Local Process

After an Arrest in Commerce

Commerce doesn't run its own police department. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department patrols the city from the East Los Angeles Station, 5019 E. Third St., which also covers Cudahy, Maywood and East LA.

People arrested in Commerce are usually held at the East LA Station first. Those who aren't released can be transferred to the Inmate Reception Center downtown or, for women, Century Regional in Lynwood.

Commerce cases go to a nearby Los Angeles Superior Court courthouse, such as the East Los Angeles Courthouse, 4848 E. Civic Center Way, and the assignment can vary with the charge. The paperwork lists the court and date, and we'll confirm it with you.

Our nearest office is in Santa Ana. A licensed agent answers 24/7 and can handle the paperwork with you by phone.

Step 2 · Transfer

If they aren't released locally, men usually go to the county's Inmate Reception Center downtown and women to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.
